Dunlop ambassador, Nick Matthew, claimed the PSA World Open squash title for the second consecutive year, when he defeated Frenchman Gregory Gaultier (6-11, 11-9, 11-6, 11-5) in an all Dunlop final on Sunday.

Matthew, 31, is the first player to successfully defend the PSA World Tour crown for 15 years. He said: “Being called ‘double World Open champion’ is amazing. I can’t tell you how tough Greg is. We’ve been playing since we were 15 or 16.

“I have two or three years on him, but it shows how tough he is that even at 16, he was pushing and beating me sometimes when I was 18. He’s younger than me and he will get his name on this trophy, no doubt.

Dunlop’s  British Open Champion  Darren Clarke has been paired with Tiger Woods in the opening round of the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. Woods is playing for the first time since knee and Achilles injuries forced him to pull out of the Players Championship in May. Clarke said, “It’s a good pairing. Any time you get to play alongside Tiger is always good,” said Clarke as he awaits his first tournament in America in almost a year”.

Jurgen Melzer and Iveta Benesova won the last major title of Wimbledon 2011 by beating Mahesh Bhupathi and Elena Vesnina in the mixed doubles final.

The ninth seeds won 6-3 6-2 in just 51 minutes on Centre Court.

Dunlop’s  Nicolas Almagro of Spain captured the tenth title of his career and third of 2011 as he defeated Romanian Victor Hanescu, ranked 69^th in the world, in three sets in the final of Open de Nice Côte d’Azur at Nice Lawn Tennis Club in Nice on Saturday. The Spaniard fought back from a set down to win the title match 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-3 in two hours and 18 minutes.

WORLD No.1 Lee Westwood came  from three shots behind to bag the Ballantine’s Championship in Korea!

Westwood, who captured last week’s Indonesian Masters, shot a flawless 67 for 12 under then was forced to sweat for an hour as Spaniard Miguel Angel Jimenez tried his damnedest to deny his Ryder Cup buddy.

But after saving par from bunkers at 15 and 17, Jimenez found a greenside bunker at the last and could only manage a 71 for 11 under.

World No. 13 and Dunlop Ambassador Nicolas Almagro earned his 200th tour-level match win as he captured his second ATP World Tour title in as many weeks with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 victory over Juan Ignacio in the Copa Claro final on Sunday in Buenos Aires. 

The Spaniard was coming off his eighth career ATP World Tour title in Costa do Sauipe (d. Dolgopolov) last week and is on a nine-match winning streak. It is the first time in his career that he has won ATP World Tour titles in back-to-back weeks.

The World No. 2 beat fellow Englishman James Willstrop in the final in what was the first all-English encounter in the tournament’s 34-year history. This victory will lift the 30 year-old back to the top of the world rankings after Egypt’s Ramy Ashour retired in the second round.

Matthew was on fine form in Al-Khobar having lost only one game in the run up to the final. Willstrop won the first set 11-7 before Matthew bounced back to win the following three sets 11-6, 11-2, 11-3. It was Matthew’s 16th win in 24 matches against sixth seed Willstrop, whom he has not lost to since December 2007.

Fourteen-year-old wild card and Dunlop D- Squad member Pippa Horn has made the final of the AEGON Junior Nationals 18&U with a fantastic win over third seed Jessica Ren today.

Continuing her seed-toppling run, which has seen her defeat second seed Lucy Brown in the first round, Horn took out Ren in three sets, 6-0, 5-7, 6-2.

It looked at one point as if the teenager from Norfolk was going to complete a comfortable straight sets win, leading 3-1 in the second.

But the tenacious Ren fought back courtesy of three double faults from her opponent. A topsy-turvy set ensued, with Ren making the breakthrough at 4-3, but then relinquishing her break when serving for the set.

The Yorkshire girl finally managed to force the match into a decider after an epic game at 5-6, breaking Horn’s serve to take the set 7-5.

“I’m feeling really good,” Horn said after the match. “I didn’t think I’d win at all. She’s a great player and after the first set went 6-0 I was thinking ‘what’s going on?’.

“But then she got back into the second set, which I thought she would, because I’d heard she’s a fighter, but I thought I did well in the third set just to keep it together and win it.”

Pippa will now face Jessica’s older sister Jennifer in the final, who defeated sixth seed Amy Askew in straight sets today, 6-4, 6-4.

British No. 1 Lucy Shuker clinched the biggest singles title of her career on Saturday when she won the women’s singles final at the Belgian Open Wheelchair Tennis Championships in Namur.
 
The victory completes a fine week for Shuker, who also secured the women’s doubles title on Friday partnering Dutchwoman Sharon Walraven.
 
After beating world No 4 and second seed Aniek van Koot of the Netherlands in the quarter-finals earlier in the week, the unseeded Shuker made a splendid start in the final against third seed and home favourite Annick Sevenans.

Shuker then came from 3-1 down in the second set to beat the Belgian world No 8 6-1, 6-4 and land the first ITF 1 Series singles title of her career.
 
Having started the Belgian Open world ranked No 12, Shuker will now climb back inside the world’s top 10 in next week’s rankings published by the International Tennis Federation.

Nicolas Almagro a remporté le 6ème titre de sa carrière en gagnant le Swedish Open de Bastad contre Robin Soderling en 3 sets.

El jugador de Dunlop D Squad Tour Team Nicolás Almagro ganó su sexto título ATP el pasado fin de semana en Bastad. Después de eliminar a su compañero de equipo Tommy Robredo en semifinales, Almagro conquistó el título ganando al jugador local y cabeza de serie nº 1 Robin Soderling en tres sets 7-5, 3-6 y 6-2.

Con esta victoria Nico suma 250 puntos ATP para escalar hasta el puesto 18 del Ranking. Ahora afronta la segunda mitad del año con la máxima confianza y el objetivo de seguir subiendo puestos para poder entrar en el Top Ten.

Almagro juega con la Aerogel 4D 500 Tour, una raqueta de gran potencia con un patrón de cordaje abierto para conseguir mayor efecto en la pelota, ideal para el juego agresivo de Nico.

Well done to Lee Westwood who came 2nd at the British Open.

Lee was advised not to play due to a calf injury but a two-under-par 70 gave him a four-round total of 279 and second place behind Louis Oosthuizen.

Soderling hit back strongly, though, racing to a 3-0 lead in the second set before going on to level the match, saving one break point as he served out the set in the ninth game.

With the match finely poised on serve in the third set, Almagro lifted his level to win the final four games from 2-2 to seal victory in just less than two hours. Victory saw him level his career series with Soderling at 3-3, avenging the defeat he suffered to the Swede in the 2009 Bastad quarter-finals.

Liam Broady (Dunlop) & Tom Farquharson ont remporté le double garçon à Wimbledon face à la paire Lewis Burton & George Morgan : 7-6, 6-4. Liam joue avec l’Aérogel 4D 300 Tour.

Bien joué également à Lucy Shuker (Dunlop) et sa partenaire Daniela di Toro qui sont arrivées en finale du double dame en fauteuil à Wimbledon.

Otro jugador del D Squad Liam Brody, con su compañero Tom Farquharson, ganó el título de dobles junior en un partido muy igualado que se dicidió con un solo break 7-6, 6-4.
