World No.1 and Dunlop ambassador Nick Matthew wowed squash fans with a lung-busting, thigh-burning victory over Egyptian showman and fellow Dunlop ambassador Ramy Ashour in Sunday’s final of the Australian Open in Canberra.
The world’s top two players produced a fitting climax to the richest squash tournament ever staged in Australia, with Matthew retrieving like Rafael Nadal to deny Ashour 16-14 11-7 12-10 to secure his fifth successive PSA Tour title.
The women’s final produced another battle between Dunlop stars with Madeline Perry taking on Alison Waters. Madeline Perry scored the greatest win of her career with a tough five-game victory over in the final.
Perry fought off two match points before prevailing 11-5 12-10 6-11 4-11 13-11.
Dunlop D Squad players performed unbelievably well, with both the Women’s and Men’s finals having both competitors using Dunlop . Well done to Nick Matthew and Madeline Perry!
Also during the tournament Nick Matthew and Greg Gaultier took part in an autograph signing.
